The Historians #31: Suffragette Chic

Thanks for inviting me to this challenge, Binky! Personally I think this has got to be one of the most interesting challenges yet. One doesn't usually think of suffragettes as having a style of their own -- but if you think about it, they kinda did! My take on it is inspired by late-period suffragettes -- that is, the era leading up to the First World War and ultimate suffrage. This look, like the originals, is rather conservative and practical (after all, those brave ladies had better things to do with their time than overly obsess over fashion!). At the same time, though, it has a strong sense of style -- you do have to be taken seriously while marching for the right to vote!
