For the first decade of her lengthy career, Danish architect and designer Grethe Meyer studied living habits and building practices. She contributed to Byggebogen , or “The Building Book," which later became the foundation for teachings at the Royal Danish Academy of Architecture, and was employed by the Danish Government to provide her expertise to the Institute for Home Building Research. She founded her own practice in 1960, and her simple and smart approach to everyday objects brought commissions from Georg Jensen, Royal Copenhagen and many other clients. In 2014, the company Menu worked with the Grethe Meyer Design Foundation to produce her GM Pendant (1984), working from her original sketch. Simple by design, GM is quietly alluring. “Design must be uncomplicated, and the product easy and comfortable to use," reasoned Meyer, “and as simple and anonymous as possible in the expression of its properties. It is in this way that I think that beauty will present itself." Bulb (not included): LED, CFL or incandescent; 40W/E12. UL Listed. Made in Denmark.
