Wedgwood Iconic Jasper Vase
Wedgwood iconic collection is inspired by the body of work of Italian architect Andrea Palladio, whose influential buildings had a profound effect on European architectural history. Using classical forms, the hallmarks of his neo-classical buildings were a sense of symmetry and perspective which are Lent to this collection. Surface detailing throughout the collection is created by the traditional technique of knurling, whereby a brass wheel carrying a design repeat is pressed and rolled into pre-fi red clay to create an imprint redolent of Palladio's work. A modern, monochromatic color palette is achieved through the combination of soft black Jasper and crystal, which creates an interesting and unexpected contrast between matte and gloss finishes. Geometric bands of etching and cutting on the crystal elements establish a contemporary feel for the collection. Grand proportions and a classic Palladian style are brought up to date with a true appreciation of traditional artisanship.
