FORMULA SPORTIVA COLLECTION: This new watch family reinterprets the Scuderia Ferrari Formula Italia collection of limited edition strap timepieces that were inspired by the interior materials and colors of revered 1960Õs Ferrari racing cars with a sportive new twist. While keeping the signature tonneau case shape and knurled detail on the crown and bezel, the Formula Sportiva line adds a distinctive new dial feature evocative of 70Õs racing cars. The perforated metallic dial in black, gunmetal gray or silver was suggested by the perforated leather steering wheels and ventilated driversÕ gloves prevalent in that era. The toggles switches and buttons of Scuderia Ferrari racecars from that age, knurled to provide a better grip, inspired those distinctive textural design details. Formula Sportiva dials are further detailed by an applied metallic Racing Shield logo, minute track and date display. Three-hand models sport large Arabic numerals that replicate the font found on the dashboard gauges of the Ferrari 156 F1. Chronographs feature applied stick markers and side-by-side sub dials at 3 and 9 oÕclock, typical of chronographs from the 60Õs and 70Õs. The center-mounted seconds hand on all styles is rendered in team red, as is the top chronograph pusher. The classically sculpted case Ð 43 mm wide for the 3-hand, and 45 mm for the chronograph Ð is crafted of solid stainless steel with a brushed/polished, gun metal or rose gold ion-plated finish. Black or brown leather straps with contrast stitching and stainless steel mesh-link bracelets enhance the retro-appeal of these new sport timepieces powered by precise quartz engines.
