Giovanni Alessi founded the company; his son, Carlo, designed Ottagonale in 1935; and Carlo's son Alberto brought Ottagonale back into production for a 2010 museum exhibition about Alessi design. Titled Memories from the Future, the exhibition was inspired by household objects that Alberto remembers his family using and enjoying throughout his childhood. Originally produced in chrome-plated brass, Alberto updated his father's design by taking advantage of modern production methods and changing the material to stainless steel. The result is a cleaner shape and invisible welds at the handles and hinges. The handles and knobs, true to Carlo's originals, are made of Bakelite. The Teapot and Coffee Pot each hold approximately six cups. Made in China; Tray made in Italy.
