Carlo Alessi studied technical design and at an early age worked in the metal workshop set up by his father Giovanni in 1921. He designed many Alessi works including the Ottagonale Collection, and as managing director and later president of Alessi, brought with him an international dimension and began working with external designers. The Alessi Ice Tongs (1933) are part of the rerelease of a series of historical products from Alessi's catalogue that were inspired by household objects and influenced by function. These were created for the Die Neue Sammlung Museum in Munich, Germany, which hosted an exhibition on Alessi in May 2010. Made in Italy.
