Working closely with the Eames Office to create these chairs, the Michigan-based Herman Miller, Inc. reengineered the dowel base for improved strength while staying true to the Eameses' original design. Charles and Ray Eames created the DSW (dining height, side chair seat shell with wood base) as a later version of the shell chair designs they created for MoMA's 1948 International Competition for Low-Cost Furniture Design. This original is an authentic, fully licensed product of Herman Miller, Inc. Eames is a licensed trademark of Herman Miller. Made in U.S.A.
