The motif of this large circular floor covering was taken...moreLargely recognized for his furniture and lighting, Verner Panton also designed textiles for the Swiss firm Mira-X. The motif of this large circular floor covering was taken from his "Grande" textile, a graceful piece of work consisting of circles and curves on a viscose and polyester gauze. To create this textile, Panton used a "burnt-out" process (or dévoré), which allowed him to use the structure of the material to enhance its printed design." At school, when we had to paint something, I always tried to do things in a different way," wrote Panton. "I have always tried to find other ways, and have simply not been able to refrain. It has also been a handicap; it is easier to do what the others want. You don't make yourself popular if you have other ideas." The Panton Rug (1975) comes with a certificate of authenticity, and Panton's signature appears on the reverse side of the rug. Licensed manufacture by Verpan ApS.
