What else you need to know: Chemicals in a color process have an alkaline pH level to open the hair cuticle allowing the color to penetrate the core of each hair strand and deposit pigments. Often the hair shaft will remain partially open after the process is completed. It is important to balance the pH and close the scales to seal in color. In addition, coloring, highlighting, and bleaching techniques weaken and damage the hair structure, leaving it very dry, and weakened.
