Digitally manufactured, the shade is made by employing an industrial process used to produce electronic products like circuit boards. The method allows for intricate patters to be cut or etched directly into the metal. In this case, the metal is brass, which creates a wonderfully warm light when lit from within. In addition, the geodesic structure creates a mass of interesting shadows in all directions. Born in Tunisia and raised in England, Tom Dixon's reputation frequently precedes him. His mystique as a bad boy Dixon dropped out of art school following a motorcycle accident and spent some time playing bass with a rock band is intriguing considering his unmistakable gift for design and emergence as one of England's most influential designers.
