Anthropologie Minuet Dress
San Francisco native Peter Som launched his namesake line in 2001, drawing upon his lifelong love of sketching, the aesthetic influence of his architect parents and the Bay Area's easy elegance. His fall collection for Anthropologie is all about old-school glamour: think delicate appliqués, hand-embroidered and pitch-perfect jewel tones. We're smitten with this so-classic fit-and-flare; for a glam-as-can-be look, try it with a faux-fur shawl and a structured bag.

beautiful styleI wanted this to fit right it is a beautiful dress. I tried to figure out exactly what the issue was. the fit was off but it actually fit to size. I am small framed on top and have hips, so the skirt usually looks good on me but the fabric is quite heavy. if the fabric was lighter weight the skirt would hang nicer and not be so bulky on top and in the skirt. I loved the length with the styling but the dress was pricy and just a bulky skirt and uncomfortable. it unfortunately went back.

Wardrobe FavouriteI first purchased this frock when it was available in red and instantly fell in love! So you can only imagine how excited I got when it became available in black. I love the quality of the fabric and the shape of the dress is very flattering. It has pockets and a good zip. It is a little tight across the chest, and because it is a little low cut, if you are busty it is quite revealing.

I can help with sizing.Other reviewers have complained about this dress being too small or ambiguously sized, so let me try to help here. I ordered the size 2, and I would offer the following equivalencies: for most of Anthropologie's dresses by other brands, this would be a size 0; in France or at a store with generic "European" sizing, it would be a small 36; in Italy, it would be between a 38 and a 40. As other customers have remarked, the tightest part of the dress is through the ribcage. I have a small frame, narrow shoulders, and small bust, so the size 2 I ordered fits me well. But if you're average to bigger-than-average up top, you should probably air on the side of ordering a larger size. The fabric is a medium-weight, shantung-like silk blend with a fairly matte finish, which gives the dress an understated elegance. The dramatically curved princess seams, flaring out into a circle skirt, are very pretty, and appreciated by this customer in an age when most things are fitted by stretch materials.

Beautiful; chest runs smallThis is a beautiful dress, very well made and with a good quality fabric. My only complaint is that I found it to run small at the chest/ribcage area. I'm a 38B, bought my usual size 12 and the last two inches of the zipper --that ends mid-back-- were almost impossible to zip up. When I finally managed to do it, I looked as if I was going to burst out of the dress. Since I love the dress and there is no size 14, I'll have to find the way to have it carefully, professionally altered. But those who have the option should consider sizing up if they have a large chest-back.

Wanted to Love itI wanted to love this dress! It looks beautiful and timeless in the picture, but the fabric is really stiff and rough, not what I expected at all. I ordered my normal size 6, but it was way to small. If you want to try it, I suggest you size up.
