modern mood. Forever fresh in squared-off shades of blue and white, this dinnerware collection was created exclusively for CB2 in collaboration with LA-based designer Gere Kavanaugh. Her long and notable career portfolio includes corporate and residential interiors and innovative product development. Now more modern than ever at age 85, Kavanaugh is one of the trailblazing female designers of her time as the third woman to receive an MFA degree from Cranbrook Academy of Art. Still prolific today, her work celebrates her passion for creating ingenious design from the simplest of materials. Handcrafted of matte-glazed stoneware, the square silhouettes are inspired by Kavanaugh's archival designs dating back 30 years. Layering a tonal palette, dinner and salad plates are grounded in the timeless hue of deep indigo, shifting to a bright blue soup bowl, and white cup and saucer. Kavanaugh chose the modern shapes for both form and function, carefully considering how they would stack neatly in a cabinet and how they would look on the table, noting that "I always liked the presentation of food on a square plate. It's almost like serving it on a canvas." Learn about Gere Kavanaugh on our blog.
