I have had these shoes for almost two years now, and they see regular use. They are very boot like; heavy, high on the ankle, and fairly rigid yet they still have some flex and cushion. Also, like a boot, they do a pretty good job at shedding water. The foot bed is very comfortable, and slipping them on and off is relatively easy. These are not pretty shoes, but they are very functional. I do a lot of riding in and around the Wasatch Mountains, from DH resort riding to quasi-CC 6 hour grinds along the Wasatch Crest then bombing back down to the valley floor. These are the only shoes I use when mountain biking now. As a side note: They are great for stomping around the dog park too.

I got these shoes for a mix of riding. Trail riding, xc and dirt jumps. I've had about 6 months on them. Some impressions: 1. These shoes are big physically and a bit clunky at first. They're heavy. 2. They provide excellent protection, with a firm toe box. 3. They are are kind of high - as in the distance between the bottom of your foot and the pedal is noticeably higher than other shoes - this took a little getting used to. 4. In the summer, these get pretty warm. 5. If you get caught in a rain storm, and water gets in around the ankle area, these retain all the water and turn into boat anchors. 6. Each shoe has seven (7) 5.10 logos on it... seriously! 7. The styling leaves a bit to be desired, but I'm not going to knock them for that. I will remark on the grippy rubber that comes up and around the side of the shoe - this is really extraneous and unnecessary in a biking shoe. The flap that covers the laces doesn't cinch down well and you end up looking like Perseus with his winged sandals. 8. The sole is sticky - it takes some getting used to, particularly when jumping. The sole is relatively stiff. You don't feel like your sole is bending around the pedal when riding uphill. That said, these have been decent shoes. I listened to the hype and expected more. They really are best suited for gravity. If you're going to do a lot of mixed trail riding, I suggest looking elsewhere.

These shoes have replaced my 1st generation 5.10 high top Mt. bike shoes. The stealth rubber is awesome, so awesome it almost feels like your using SPD shoes given how well they grip. The one stand out thing for me is the rigid sole, it's really noticeable when railing single track. I wish the style was a little better. The smoke pattern is kind of lame and the blue wouldn't have been my first choice. The high ankle on the crank arm side is just as high as a regular hightop. Buy them, you won't be disappointed.
