they actually fit!My calf measures 16" at its widest. I have been searching for a riding boot for quite some time with no luck. I finally took the plunge and ordered these boots in brown in size 8.5. I normally wear an 8. They fit well on my foot. I have a thin sock on today but perhaps with something thicker they will be perfect. These feel more like a motorcycle boot than a riding boot but after the agony of finding something to fit these calves, I'm sticking with these boots right here. I'm tired of searching and I know these will last forever as the quality is truly amazing. I can smell the leather lingering in the air around me. I wish they were just a bit taller. I'm 5'3" and they sit 4" below my knee. That's why I didn't give 5 stars.

They actually slouch!Super roomy in the calves which is a total plus as I have never found boots that are loose around my calves! Love them.

Another Reviewer who LOVED theseI have some chunky monkey legs.I have to purchase all boots in the "special" extended calf version. When I first got these I wanted to return them. OUCH. My feet were pinched for about a month, but my calf fit ( ;I didn't know really how long it should take for the leather to stretch but apparently about a month. I am so GLAD that I waited out the blisters.I've worn these lovelies almost daily this winter, well except for when it snowed. DON'T wear these in the snow! And not for the OMG they're leather factored, no, once I wore them not looking at the weather and we had snow. I literally couldn't walk, I was sliding all over the sidewalk. Granted this is NYC and they're covered in God only knows what....but don't try it.Yes I would totally rebuy these if something were to happen to them. But maybe this time I'd take them to a cobbler to have stretched.....

first pair of fryes, not going to my last!i bought these after a friend recommended them and i got really excited seeing all the celebs who have this exact style. i have skinny legs, but they are muscular so i bought extended calf and am glad that i did because they're just right. very comfortable and fashionable...the leather softens a bit the more you wear the shoes, so if they hurt your toes in the beginning give them a few tries

AMAZEEveryone knows Frye boots are great, the extended calf is even better for those with larger legs that want to be able to tuck their jeans into the boots. My sister has the exact same pair in the regular fit and both of our boots look the same.Great buy.Frye boots last forever so you can't really go wrong.Would definitely recommend.
