Waste of money!!!!Pegs don't stay in the holes. Not enough room to knock them out. The only thing my son enjoys about the toy is that it has a hammer and he wants to destroy everything in sight with it. Wish I can get a refund!

The pegs don't stand up long enoughThe pegs do not stand up long enough to pound them in. You put them in and they just fall through.

Neat but doesn't work rightBought this for my 16 month old son for Christmas. The idea is that you put the pegs in the holes and some sort of resistance allows the child to hammer the peg down. I think on ours, all the pegs were not exactly the same diameter because 3 out of the 8 pegs would fall straight through the hole when we put them in. If the kid can't "pound the peg" because it fell through on it's own, it kinda defeats the purpose of the toy. On the plus side, I called the 800 number on the toy and a Melissa & Doug rep was very helpful and said they would send out a replacement at no charge. Hopefully that one works properly otherwise I would really not recommend this at all. I should receive the replacement in the next 2 weeks. Fingers crossed. My only other negative observation was that when my child was "pounding" on the pegs the red coloring of the hammer would leave red marks on the surface of the wooden frame. I suppose that's to be expected from painted wood but it will quickly look marred.

Love Melissa & Doug, but Not This ProducI am a fan of Melissa & Doug, but not this toy. This product wasn't made properly - the pegs slip right through the holes so you can't pound them. The company definitely needs to rework the pegs. It was a Christmas present we have to return- our little guy was disappointed :(

Loose Pegs & Pegs are Too LongThe pegs are extremelly loose that when you pick up the toy and give it a very slight downward "shake" (for lack of a better word), all of the pegs fall out. Not only are the pegs loose, but when they are pounded, they are too long to even fall out. That defeats the fine motor purpose i.e. having the little one pick up the pegs and placing them back in the slots.I am disappointed.
