First off, I really, really wanted to not like this dress. At nearly $250, I was hard pressed to figure out how many events I could rationally wear this to before people figured out I was just trying to get my money's worth! It is just way more than I can rationalize spending on a dress. I don't typically like red, and I definitely don't like red and black. But this dress is so beautiful and unique, just like all of Tracy Reese's dresses!!!! Seriously, if you have the money, go for it. It is gorgeous. I am sad to see it go, but I am returning it for a less expensive and equally flattering (but not as unique!) dress. I am a petite 5'3", 120 lbs and this fit very well in a 4. Not too long or too short. The fabric is a very thick knit and has some stiffness to it, which lends to the quality of the dress. The arm length is very flattering and does a nice job of hiding those upper arms if that is a concern. One strange thing I noticed is it looks like a pencil skirt in the front but there is a lot of fullness in the back- there are a few additional pleats that might be a problem if you have a bit of a bum. Keep in mind this fabric is a thick knit so it isn't a flouncy dress and is instead rather stiff. Lastly, my ten year old daughter wasn't crazy about the little apron panel on the front of the dress bodice- but I thought that detail was very pretty and flattering. Overall, I would maybe pay $150 for this but at this price, I just have to return it.
