Quick note: Since apparently Shopbot.com only sells clothes for women, any winnings here go straight to my mom. :-)
Without further ado: The Professional Loaf:
Since the weather in Chicago has finally begun to feel like spring (yes, I know it's almost June), it's time to pull out the linen pants. Lightweight and breezy, drawstring pants by Boss, unlike many white linen slacks, are solid enough that there's no *ahem* x-ray vision.
Zegna's Wool/Cashmere shirt is smooth and blends nicely with the creamy, light colors of this ensemble. In the event you have to take a break from relaxing to attend a more professional function, layer this comfortable long-sleeve over the Paul Smith dress shirt. The pink and blue stripes add a bit of extra color and flair, while still giving that look of easy comfort. I was actually looking for a Charles Tyrwhitt striped shirt, since no one does pink like the Brits, but Paul does it well indeed.
I've included two options for the jacket - a navy and a white. Either mixes well; just be sure not to eat Italian if you go with the white! The choice from Banana Republic is also the better choice should the weather be exceedingly warm, and the sun blazing down on your afternoon drinks.
Shoes. Many authorities recommend that if you can spend a lot of money on any piece of your wardrobe, you should invest in a great pair of shoes. Fortunately we don't have to pay an arm and a leg for Johnston & Murphy's Tidwell loafers. I actually ust bought a pair last month, and they are some of the most comfortable shoes out there. They also fill that void between casual and dressy perfectly, and are acceptable in any situation.
Making sure to match our leathers, Burberry's excellent watch adds some class while not being overwhelming.
Although the trend is toward large, face-hugging aviators, Ferragamo's sunglasses convey tact and style without being obnoxious.
