Okay so my name is Claire. I'm 17 years old, in high school, about to graduate and go to the University of Oklahoma, I moved to texas two years ago from Ohio. I have a purple room, purple ceilings, purple clothes, purple make up, purple skin.... err, okay not realllyyyy, but yeah. Have a bottle of gatorade permanently in my hands (the tall one with the swivel top) and skittles. ANywhoo, I could go on on on about me but I won't, instead I leave this poem I wrote for a class assignment about where i'm from, its simple but perfectly true. enjoy! :]
I am from a mother and a father And a middle class white house big front yards and big backyards from my amazing wooden tree house using my imagination as much as possible I am the harsh winter storms and the humid summer days From boys with cooties Chasing giggly girls at recess From jumping rope, soccer games, and freeze tag I am from Lisa Frank Stickers and blow pens From weird hobbies like collecting eraser shavings from practicing dives in the public pool and playing competitive monopoly I am from the awkward years Making every mistake possible From all the ups and downs of middle school To high school classes and crushes Jogging in the park, then immediately after, feasting on tacos with friends from having your mom say we’re moving I am from empty rooms and packed boxes From the last summer in Ohio, cramming as many memories in as I could I am from a moving truck On its way to Texas From all brick houses, manicured yards I am from new places, new faces, and new schools And catching that senioritis disease a bit too early junior year From obtaining freedom in the form of a driver’s license and forming addictions to braums, chik-fil-a, and Gazeebo burger having no curfew, great friends, and wild times From Ohio to Texas, high school and one day to college I am from what makes me, me
