Have you gotten out this summer to enjoy our national passtime? No, not mid summer sales, have you attended a baseball game yet? With football, basketball and hockey on hiatus until falls gets going...baseball games are a great place to see and be seen. Better yet, they are a great place to randomly co-mingle with cute guys and give yourself a much needed break from on line dating. I have been going to games since I was a kid. I remember thinking I was so hip in my K Swiss tennis shoes and Guess Jean overalls with the bid down. Yeah I know, what was I thinking?. Here are some fun pieces to sharpen up your sporty look so your fashion sense never "strikes" out!
Outfit no. 1: Understated cool... pairing your favorite jean shorts w/ a baseball T, blazer, sequine Converse, a cuff bracelet that blantantly says "hey I got my eye on YOU!" topped off with the best hat for the occasion... a baseball cap (w/ whichever team logo you root for).
Outfit no. 2: Sporty chic meets Joan Jett! The track jacket is designed by rap star Missey Elliot, the tank cuts to the chase "I'm friendly towards the opposite sex, I don't bite", the sport bra is a great color and holds "the girls in nicely", the sweat pants are comfy, the Nike sneaks are so retro and the then layer the appropriate zodiac symbol bracelet with the Puma wristbands to complete the look.
Outfit no. 3: More feminine and low key then the other two. I love the Old Navy dress because it comes in a XXL so it you have curves it will fit ya easily!, Stop tossing out your denim jackets since they keep coming back in style, the slip on Converse, fedora and scarf add the "flair" to the outfit, kinda says "yeah I am trying to look chic but not trying too hard" and lastly the sunglasses, peace cuff and feed bag can work for all three outfits if you desire.
Note to self: leave your fancy purses home. Gucci and baseball is like pregancy & skinny jeans...not so good!
Living in Los Angeles means there's an over abundance of sleek, cozy, hip boutique hotels to haunt. There's not one, but two Standards (Sunset Blvd. in West Hollywood and one Downtown with the most amazing view), the Viceroy in Santa Monica, the new-ish one called the London and LA's classic Chateau Marmont. They are 5 of the many that pepper the streets of "la la land". It's always been on my "to do list" to pick a random weekend, dial one of these chic retreats up and reserve a room for a Saturday night. But when my voice of reason sounds off, it's always the same reality "Stacy, it's just a 15 minute jaunt over the canyon from the city and voila you are home and saving a bloody fortune off your AMEX card." Yeah true, but not this summer. This summer I take action! No excuses. I am tossing practicality aside and am finally committed (you read it here) to a weekend in the city. Make note: I live in the Valley and to "City-ites" it's like I reside on Mars... FYI. Natch, the biggest decision is what to pack. Okay here goes...
