Louis Poulsen PH 5 Pendant Lamp
Louis Poulsen PH 5 Pendant Lamp

Poul Henningsen developed the PH 5 in 1958, in response to constant changes to the shape and size of incandescent bulbs. At the introduction of the PH 5, Henningsen wrote the following: After 33 years of basically Christian behavior, I have converted to Islam in my relationship to the manufacture of incandescent bulbs. For a generation I have believed that consideration for the consumer and common sense would prevail, but now I have become a fatalist. I have accepted fate, and with Louis Poulsens permission, I have designed a PH fixture which can be used with any kind of light source, including, Christmas lights and 100 W metal-filament bulbs (although a fluorescent tube would be too much to ask in the existing form). The PH 5 was introduced as a classic new product and no one knew at the time that it would eventually become synonymous with the PH brand. Regardless of how the light is installed or the light source used, the PH 5 is and remains completely glare-free. The fixture was christened pH 5 due to the 50 cm diameter of the main shade. Features Designed by Poul Henningsen, 1958 Type: Pendant light Concept: The fixture provides 100% glare-free light Its design is based on the principle of a reflective three-shade system, which directs majority of the light downwards The fixture emits both downward and lateral light, thus illuminating itself In the PH 5 Classic, a warmer tone of light is created by the inside red cone and a small blue reflector Finish: White/Pale rose, Dark Grey/Turquoise, Army/Dark Grey or Pale Rose/Green, mat coated Mounting: Canopy: White; Cord type: 3-conductor, 18 AWG white PVC power cord Suitable for high and low mounting Suitable for repetitive installations Materials Shades: Spun aluminum. Louis Poulsen PH 4/3 Pendant Lamp
Louis Poulsen PH 4/3 Pendant Lamp

Poul Henningsen designed the three-shade system during 1925/1926. The first lights using the system were designed for an exhibition in Paris. His work with Louis Poulsen continued until his death in 1967. Throughout his life, PH sought to create glare-free lighting; aiming to direct light where it was most needed, and creating soft shadows while using incandescent bulbs as a light source. The PH 4/3 Metal Pendant was launched in 1966. Its design follows the general three-shade system based on the logarithmic spiral, with the center of the light source positioned at the axis of the spiral. This light is a simplification of the light PH designed in 1929, winning him the highest distinction at the world exhibition in Barcelona at that time. Metal pendants were produced in a number of formats and colors, and the underside of the shade was painted white to provide diffuse light. To achieve warmer lighting, metal pendants were also produced with a gold-coated underside. Metal pendants have been produced in a number of sizes and colors over the years, but the only metal pendant available today is the 4/3. Features Designed by Poul Henningsen, 1925/1926 Type: Pendant light Concept: The fixture is designed based on the principle of a reflective three-shade system, which directs the majority of the light downwards The shades are made of metal and painted white to ensure uniform, comfortable light distribution Finish: White, wet painted Mounting: Canopy: White; Cord type: 3-conductor, 18 AWG white PVC power cord Suitable for repetitive installations Iconic design, architectural versatility Materials Shades: Spun aluminum. Enigma 545 was designed by Japanese designer Shoichi Uchiyama in 2007 and extends the Enigma family. Enigma 545 is a larger version of Enigma 425, based on the design idea of floating shades held by ultrathin wires, providing a transparent and light expression. The concentrated light from the light source is filtered through an opalescent diffuser to ensure soft, comfortable light distribution. The softened light creates a pleasant atmosphere within the shade and ensures a gentle lighting effect on the outside, helping to illuminate and define the product's shape when lit. The aim was to create comfortable and atmospheric lighting fixture in both private and public settings. The starting point is a flat sheet of aluminum which is worked into the bell-shaped shade. The 3 mm thick shade ensures a very solid fixture, suitable for applications ranging from children's rooms to executive areas. Louis Poulsen PH 3 1/2-3 Pendant Light

Marking Poul Henningsen's 120th birthday on 9 September, Louis Poulsen launched the new PH 31⁄2-3 pendant. Based on Poul Henningsen's original drawings from the late 1920s and early 1930s, it features his renowned three-shade system. The pendant has metal shades, available in green, yellow, red and white. The fixture housing is silk mat brown and made of copper. All colors are based on Poul Henningsen's color universe. Like the designer, the fixtures are colorful! As an extra feature, all shades have a white painted rolled edge, accentuating the familiar profile of the three-shade fixture and creating beautiful optical symmetry. The shades are pressed at Louis Poulsen's factory in Vejen, by Louis Poulsen's own staff – a craft only very few are trained in. Although the fixture is over 80 years old, it is both modern and classic at the same time, making it ideally suited to a broad range of interior design environments. It is seen as a charming, rustic, functional and unpretentious fixture. But it is much more. The PH 31⁄2-3 pendant is a piece of Danish lighting design history. Louis Poulsen Patera Pendant Light
Louis Poulsen Patera Pendant Light

“Patera was born of my fascination with the Fibonacci sequence. You can find the spiral pattern wherever you look in nature – in the seed formation in sunflowers and pine cones, for example – and it has previously inspired Leonardo da Vinci, Johan Sebastian Bach and many other great artists from history,” relates Øivind Slaatto. “Patera is intended to serve as a modern chandelier – a light that unifies the space and makes any room a more human place to spend time in.” The ball-shaped pendant floats like a majestic focal point in the room, spreading light in all directions. At first glance, it seems to be just a white, perforated ball, but closer inspection reveals its detailed design featuring a host of circles, angles and holes. The pleasant light emitted by Patera suits a variety of contexts: everything from dining table settings, halls and entrances, to reception areas and meeting rooms. Patera illuminates people around it in a credible, natural light, without generating inappropriate shadows on their faces. Stylistically, the light is simultaneously simple and refined, which means that it blends seamlessly into most interior design set-ups, modern and classical alike. The entire assembly process is carried out by hand. Patera is light and airy, making it simple to install in a great many settings.
