The Calvin Klein brand began when Klein decided to open a coat shop in New York City with his childhood friend Barry Schwartz. Since its conception, Calvin Klein strives to embody “bold, progressive" and provocative ideals through a “minimal aesthetic," while embracing authenticity and individuality. The brand experienced immediate success with Klein appearing on Vogue’s cover in September 1969. In the '70s, Calvin Klein added blazers, sportswear, menswear, cosmetics, and accessories to his collection.
