Rejuvenation Industrial Pendant w/ Rare 5-Bulb Benjamin Cluster & Opal Reflector
Rejuvenation Industrial Pendant w/ Rare 5-Bulb Benjamin Cluster & Opal Reflector 

Although the Industrial style spans a broad era – ranging from before the turn of the century through the 1940’s—the moniker typically refers more to function than to period. As utility is key, design efforts are focused more on efficiency than ornamentation. Articulating joints, powerful reflector shades, hard-working materials and no-nonsense finishes characterize Industrial-style lighting. From hand-painted illuminated-shade signage to porcelain enamel warehouse pendants, if the first function of the fixture is to assist, it’s probably an Industrial light. Historical Style: Industrial Brass fixture with original finish, complimented by a large opal glass reflector. Combined with a rare and highly-desirable 5-light Benjamin bulb cluster. Condition Notes: Some nice wear in the original brass finish. Bulbs not included.

Rejuvenation Organic Torch-Cut Brutalist Brass Pendant
Rejuvenation Organic Torch-Cut Brutalist Brass Pendant 

Tom Greene designed a series striking torch-cut brass and copper lighting fixtures for several lighting companies that had a wide influence and have today become associated with a raw and aggressive style of the late 1960s and early 1970s known as Brutalist. With no identifying marks or labels, we cannot positively attribute this design, but it certainly reflects the look of Greene's distinctive lighting, which has passed through a period of underappreciation to capture the imaginations of a new generation of aficionados of the Mod and Contemporary era.

Rejuvenation Exceptionally Rare Gas Hoop Pendant
Rejuvenation Exceptionally Rare Gas Hoop Pendant 

Popular for basic lighting needs from the 1870s well into the early 1900s, hoop gas fixtures were widely used in functional, utilitarian spaces like stores, shops, and work spaces. However this example is a bit more unique due to the delicate Neo Grec details: note the brass wings at the hips of the hoop, the ornate gas cock, and charming stamped smoke bell. These Classical elements are carried through in the frosted and etched shade, which features swirling acanthus leaves, woodland creatures and pinstriping. Be sure to take a close look at the third and fourth photos to examine the details of this incredible shade. Today, even though it has transcended over 140 years, we imagine this fixture would be an ideal addition to any home as an entry way pendant or as the focal point in an impressive stairwell. Historical Style: Neo Grec Notes: Fixture has been repaired in spots and the smoke bell has some defects (see 5th photo) Canopy was added as this originally gas fixture would not have had a canopy Also would have had a glass chimney inside the shade, although we think it looks just wonderful as is Bulbs not included.

The endless refined appeal of Classical design stretches across the 19th and 20th centuries, and encompasses variations like Beaux Arts, Neo-Classical, Rococo and Greek Revival. Design elements like coves and ogees are borrowed from ancient architecture, and ornaments are predominated by acanthus leaf, Greek key, egg and dart, and wave motifs. Rejuvenation Japanned Copper 2-Arm Pendant
Rejuvenation Japanned Copper 2-Arm Pendant 

Common in Four Squares, Bungalows and Mission-style homes of the early 20th century, Arts & Crafts lighting could be bread-and-butter or very elevated, depending on context. Typically, Arts & Crafts designs were simpler, with square steel or brass tubing and spool-shaped bodies. A way to turn up the style would be to add rustic, nature-inspired touches, some stained, leaded or opalescent art glass, or feature heavy hand-forged wrought-iron or brass construction. There is always a strong current of symmetry and balance in the designs of the Arts & Crafts movement, taking nostalgic inspiration from idyllic agrarian villages and hand-crafted traditions, in reaction to the rapid and dehumanizing industrialization of the late Victorian era. Historical Style: Arts & Crafts Original japanned copper finish and frosted and etched shades help to elevate this otherwise hard-working hallway pendant. Condition Notes: Some wear in the original finish – all commensurate with age. Bulbs not included.

Rejuvenation Victorian 2-Light Pendant w/ Reeded Motif
Rejuvenation Victorian 2-Light Pendant w/ Reeded Motif 

With feet in both the 19th and 20th centuries, the Victorian era saw a huge transformation of lighting technology and the evolution of many styles. The period began with gas-powered lighting, which transitioned to electricity just before the turn of the century. During that exciting time, unusual fixtures were made to utilize both technologies: gas-electric combination lights. While fixtures are often formal, bordering on ostentatious, the many variations (including Eastlake, Aesthetic, Rococo, Empire, etc.) are typically characterized by the Victorian love of ornamentation and detail. Because the light provided by gas and early bulb technology was very dim by today’s standards, the fixtures were frequently furnished with incredible glass shades. Frosted, etched, mirrored, prismatic – all of these shade designs were meant to show off or magnify the light, which feebly emanated from flickering flames and filaments. Historical Style: Victorian Densely reeded body and rod, with the reeds even persisting through the socket-covers. Lovely ruffled shades with sunflower etched patterns. Bulbs not included.

Rejuvenation Three-Light Hexagonal Chandelier w/ Original Finish
Rejuvenation Three-Light Hexagonal Chandelier w/ Original Finish 

In the United States, the Colonial Revival represented both national pride and nostalgia for our 18th century beginnings. As both pride and nostalgia are always in style, the Colonial Revival had several revivals of its own, during the 1870’s, the 1920’s and the 1940’s, and remains a very popular style in architecture and lighting to this day. Throughout these rebirths, Colonial Revival lighting was characterized as modestly elegant, traditional and symmetrical, with graceful curves and turned elements that usually lacked overt ornamentation. Shining brass and polychromed metals were the most popular, but silver plated finishes often adorned the more elevated fixtures. Historical Style: Colonial Revival Incredible 3-arm fixture with unusual hexagonal elements: geometric spool body and arms – all aged to perfection with the original brass finish. Combined with a set of 3 etched hexagonal shades. Condition Notes: Perfectly patinated finish – all commensurate with age. Bulbs not included.

Rejuvenation Mid-Century Raw Steel Pendant by Fabricius and Kastholm 

The Modern industrial design movement emerged from the efficiency and urgency of the second World War - the Modern decorative arts movement emerged from the joy and relief that came after the War ended. Mid-Century Modern design is accessible, popular and hopeful – the future seemed awfully bright after 1945! Using innovative technologies created during wartime that bent, molded and multiplied materials to maximize efficiency, designers like Eames, Saarinen and Nelson were able to bring their creations to the world en masse afterward. Mid-Century Modern lighting is characterized by these new technologies, both manmade and natural materials, experimental forms and “futuristic” patterns inspired by the postwar space race. The ideals of the Mid-Century Modern movement are still relevant today, making these lights as popular as ever. Historical Style: Mid-Century Tiered style steel pendant produced by Fabricius and Kastholm. Originated from Denmark. Rejuvenation Brutalist Swag Pendant w/ Amber Glass by Moe Bridges
Rejuvenation Brutalist Swag Pendant w/ Amber Glass by Moe Bridges 

This rugged and almost unfinished sculptural look is often called Brutalist today, though when Moe Light offered this series in the early 1970s they referred to it "contemporary eclectic." While it is slightly more aggressive emotionally, this style can almost be seen as a sort of Modernist Arts & Crafts, where the hand of the maker is celebrated rather than disguised. A nice example from a hard-to-find series. Fixture terminates with a plug, rather than a canopy, so not meant to be hardwired. Historical Style: Modern Bulbs not included.

Rejuvenation Converted 12-Light Gas Chandelier w/ Pierced Filigree Body 

This light is actual royalty. Known around the restoration shop as The Princess, this fixture was once powered by gas. Before she came to our shop, someone converted her to electric, but we are proud to say that we took her to the next level. Carefully re-wiring every socket, we wired and tested each light, hand-polished each brass ormolu and antiqued the arms in a lovely contrast – we even re-cast one of the gas keys that had been lost to the ages. Our craftsmen feel this is their crowning achievement and we hope you can see why. A rare survivor from the late 19th century, this now-fully-electrified 12-light charmer has all the character that makes Empire-era lighting so interesting. Delicately cast ornamental armbacks gracefully complement the long, pierced spool-shaped body, but the eyes of the true dyed-in-the-wool lighting enthusiast will be drawn irresistibly to the cast gas keys below. Historical Style: Victorian: Empire Condition Notes: Fantastic, rare condition, but there are some notes: one of the cast ormolu pieces on the body is missing its floral cap (see photo 6 for a close-up). We had to re-cast one of the gas keys – try to guess which one. Bulbs not included.

Rejuvenation Towering Brass & Wrought Iron Theater Chandelier
Rejuvenation Towering Brass & Wrought Iron Theater Chandelier 

Here is a rare opportunity to own a piece of history – this incredible fixture once hung in the Pantages Theatre in Portland, located on SW Broadway and SW Alder Streets from 1901 to 1928. This fixture would have been added when the theater hosted Vaudeville, during its peak in the teens. The Pantages eventually transitioned to cinema with the rise of silent motion pictures in the mid-1920s, before being demolished in 1928. It is easy to imagine this light, glowing above a sea of velvet-covered seats, which were filled with excited theater-goers. Then, the lights were dimmed and the stars of Vaudeville would take the stage. So many happy memories were made below fixtures like these. There are several fantastic revival styles at play here, most notably Gothic and Classical Revivals, all presented in wonderfully worked brass and blue-painted wrought iron. Both the metals are wonderfully well-preserved. The muted blue of the painted wrought iron beautifully compliments the patinated brass. Note that even the chains are wrought, forming a unique circle and oval pattern. This fixture weighs 265 pounds and hangs more than 8' long – needless to say, it will require a place of prominence in your home or commercial space. We also suggest a professional be consulted or contracted for installation, as the piece will need to be adequately secured. Also please note that the shades are new reproductions, of the type that would have been featured in the period. Historical Style: Romance Revival Condition Notes: Wonderful original finish on the fixture, combined with a set of new, period-appropriate opal acorn shades. Canopy is a new replacement, finished to match. Bulbs not included.

Rejuvenation Wrought Iron Billiard Light w/ NOS Hubbell Reflectors
Rejuvenation Wrought Iron Billiard Light w/ NOS Hubbell Reflectors 

This stunning 4-arm billiard chandelier dates to the early 1900's, a time when the game of billiards was gaining popularity and Victorian ornate design was giving way to the less decorative styles of the early 20th century. Handcrafted with long arms that extend to support a set of rare new old stock green enamel Hubbell reflector shades that direct light down to where the action is taking place. Made from wrought iron, with twists and scrolls reminiscent of R. Williamson's lighting. In the early 1900s, the game of billiards was all the rage. A fixture designed to properly light a billiards table required a long and narrow spread and an even distribution of strong downward light– characteristics also ideal over kitchen islands, dining room tables, and work spaces. Historical Style: Victorian Condition Notes: Plenty of wear in the original wrought iron – some pitting in the ring and canopy. See all photos for details. Bulbs not included.
