An English Georgian cork screw dating ca 1830. It is known as a puller in that after twisting the screw into the cork, the handle could be turned in the opposite direction and pull the cork from the bottle. This one has an ebony handle and a brass pulling frame with a brass and steel pulling mechanism. It also retains its pig bristle brush. On older bottles of wine, dried mold is often found on the cork when the capsule is removed, it was used to remove the mold prior to opening the bottle.. Wood/brass/steel
