If Mariano Fortuny had lived in the 21st century, his creations would likely have the characteristics seen today in the Komarov dress. A special heat process is used to bend the fibers of natural and man-made fiber blends for a luxurious feel reminiscent of the famous Spanish fashion designer's work. Every Komarov dress is pleated using the age-old artistry of pleating combined with modern methods.

For a romantic dress that travels with ease and fits like a dream, choose the Print Charmeuse & Lace A-Line Dress. This figure-fitting Komarov dress in a delightful floral print flows into a full skirt trimmed in lace. Matte-chiffon, fluttery tiers on the skirt, and hand-pleating accent the sophisticated and oh-so-pretty Beaded Charmeuse & Chiffon Midi Dress with Jacket.

Russian immigrant Shelly Komarov is the founder and Creative Director of Komarov Enterprises. She came to the United States in 1977 with husband Boris and infant son Dimitri. In St. Petersburg Russia, she had been a seamstress for the Kiri Ballet, so upon arriving in the United, she looked for a career in sewing costumes in the film and television industry. Since her work required lots of travel, Shelly became frustrated with clothes that did not travel well. This became the impetus for creating the women's sportswear and dresses she is known for today. The pleated clothes conform naturally to each individual body type and are easy-care.

During the 25 years that Shelly was a costume designer for the show business industry, she was honored with four Emmy awards for the films Peter the Great, The Kennedy’s of Massachusetts, Frank Sinatra, and Introducing Dorothy Dandridge. Nicole Kidman, George Clooney, and Halle Berry are just a few of the celebrities she has outfitted. She quit working for the film business and now dedicates all her time to designing for her beautiful Komarov clothing line.
