Levi's 1880's Overall Vintage Jeans

"The 1880s XX Waist Overall is among the oldest jeans in our entire archive. Levi's® Vintage Clothing has reconstructed it using ""Run of the Mill"" denim from Cone® Mills — a leading American manufacturer and proud Levi's® partner for over 100 years. The fabric has also been dyed with natural indigo, highly coveted for its unmatched color and unique fading over time. This is a limited edition garment, and we have made only 500 pairs this season. Levi's 1933 501 Vintage Jeans
Levi's 1933 501 Vintage Jeans

"The Levi's® Vintage Clothing 1933 501® Jean offered a new variety of wearing options—it was updated with belt loops, but still retained the popular cinch and suspender buttons. Some owners wore their jeans with a belt instead of suspenders. They cut off the cinch right at the rivet and removed the suspender buttons, choosing not to follow the style of older generations. Many Levi's® brand retailers even kept a big pair of scissors at the cash desk, to cut the cinch off for customers. This incarnation of the 501® reflects the brand's growing popularity—by this point, any pair of denim pants were being called ""Levi's,"" regardless of who made them. So in 1927, the company trademarked the ""Levi's®"" name. By 1933, the 501® was updated with a new Guarantee Ticket on the back pocket. The original ticket from 1892, reading ""This is a pair of them,"" was modified to ""This Is A Pair Of Levi's®."" This jean is also set apart with a detail reflecting a key moment in history, and Levi's® workwear heritage. Under the leather patch is a white cloth label printed with a blue eagle and the letters ""NRA""—this was the logo for the National Recovery Act. Established by President Franklin D. Roosevelt, the National Recovery Administration aimed to support workers during the 1930's Great Depression. Because Levi Strauss & Co.® abided by the administration's rules, the company was allowed to use this logo. This jean is made with selvedge denim from Cone Mills— a Levi's® partner for over 100 years. Levi's 1933 501 Vintage Jeans - Men's 33x34 - Rigid. Levi's Official Site."

Levi's 1976 501 JEANS
Levi's 1976 501 JEANS

"The 501® Jean of the late 1970's shared shelf space with a wide range of pant styles popularized during the ""Me Decade"" — bell bottoms, straight legs, slacks with the look of jeans, and beyond. Despite the busy times, Levi Strauss and Co. stuck to the basics when it came to its most iconic style. The 1976 501® Jeans is popular with vintage enthusiasts, not for the fit or details, but for the fabric. The color started out a bit brighter but faded out faster, a welcome change for Levi's® fans who wanted to fade their jeans as quickly as possible. This pair is made from our classic Shrink-to-FitTM denim, which forms to you over time. CLICK HERE TO LEARN MORE ABOUT SHRINK-TO-FITTM DENIM. Levi's 1976 501 JEANS - Men's 29x34 - Rigid. Levi's 1954 501 Customized Vintage Jean
Levi's 1954 501 Customized Vintage Jean

"Levi's® Vintage Clothing took the 1954 501® Jean and customized it for a more narrow fit. We did this by inserting extra fabric into the center back waistband of a size 29 1954 501. We left the thigh, knee and leg opening unchanged — as a result, this customized garment has a much slimmer profile than the previous version. The original 1954 501® Jean was originally released as the ""501® Z,"" and represents Levi's® expansion into new territory. In the mid-1950's, Levi's® started selling its trademark 501® Jeans on the East Coast. Up to this point, Western states had been the primary sales region since the jeans first came about in 1873, and there the garment had grown a loyal following. East Coasters, however, were largely unfamiliar with this button fly work pant. To make it more approachable for new wearers, Levi's® introduced a new version. They took the original 501® Shrink-to-Fit Jean, replaced the classic button fly with a zipper, and named it the ""501® Z."" It retained all the other details loved by longtime wearers: the famed fit, rivets, and tough-but-flexible denim. Retailers began providing customers with both options—the 501® Jean and its zippered brother, the 501® Z. Today we have recreated the latter, to help tell our story of the 501® and its evolution through the decades. This jean is made with selvedge denim from Cone Mills of North Carolina—a Levi's® brand partner for over 100 years. Levi's 1954 501 Customized Vintage Jean - Men's 31 - Wanted. Levi's 1890 XX501 Vintage Jeans
Levi's 1890 XX501 Vintage Jeans

"The very first 501®. In 1873, Levi Strauss and Jacob Davis introduced their classic blue jean. However, by 1890 their exclusive patent for riveted clothing had expired, meaning that other companies could use the same construction. In response to this impending competition, Levi Strauss & Co. printed the inside pocket bag with information about the garment's originality and extra strong denim—referred to as ""XX"". More significantly, they assigned it an identifying number—501®—which would evolve into a signature brand. With the 501® name, the jean was distinguished not only within Levi's® clothing line—which had grown to considerable size—but also from other apparel on the market. This enabled retailers to easily order the product by number rather than by a simple description, which they had done in the past. Going forward, any product made with the same high-quality material was assigned a lot number beginning with 5 — for instance, 506® for the iconic trucker jacket—and we continue using these numbers today. Made with XX denim from the Amoskeag Manufacturing Company, the 501® Jean remained at the head of the class and set a new standard for American workwear. Levi's® Vintage Clothing has honored the original and recreated its characteristic details —from the riveted construction and button fly, to the original Two Horse leather patch. Levi's 1947 501 Shrink-To-Fit Selvedge Denim Jeans

The straight-leg 501 is Levi's most iconic jean. This pair is a reissue from 1947, made in the USA from world-famous White Oak selvedge denim at Cone Mills, North Carolina. The style was reworked after WWII to account for the scarcity of resources, hence the double arcs on the back pockets and the slightly slimmer cut. They will shrink on the first wash for the perfect fit. Shown here with a Chimala jacket, nonnative sweater, Maison Kitsuné T-shirt and Viberg boots. - - Indigo denim jeans - Straight-fit, belt loops, five pockets, back patch - Button fastenings - 100% cotton - Machine wash or dry clean - Made in the USA

Levi's 1915 501 Vintage Jeans
Levi's 1915 501 Vintage Jeans

"The Levi's® Vintage Clothing 1915 501® Jean was produced in collaboration with Cone Mills Denim of North Carolina. The story of Cone Denim began in 1891, when two brothers founded the Cone Export & Commission Company. By 1905, they established the White Oak Mill — named after a 200-year-old tree on its grounds—that would set the standard for quality denim. Today, White Oak retains this status and continues to produce its renowned fabric. Regarded as a stronghold of textile history, it remains an endless inspiration and integral resource for archives. In 1915, Cone Denim and Levi Strauss & Co. struck a historic agreement, and Cone was granted the exclusive right to manufacture Levi's® proprietary Shrink-to-FitTM denim for all 501® Jeans. This gentleman's agreement, still in place today, became known as ""The Golden Handshake."" Over a century later, we are still unearthing archival details about fabrics we've developed throughout our history with Cone Denim. The 1915 501® Jean celebrates this heritage—reproducing the Cone fabric and original 1915 Levi's® fit, and carrying the secrets of a 100-year partnership within its warp and weft. This iconic garment is crafted from selvedge denim—a Cone Mills specialty. It also features a Panama Pacific tag, commemorating its display at the famed Panama Pacific International Exposition in San Francisco. Levi's 1915 501 Vintage Jeans - Men's 28x34 - Rigid. Levi's 1944 501 Vintage Jeans
Levi's 1944 501 Vintage Jeans

"The Levi's® Vintage Clothing 1944 501® Jean reflects the brand's enduring identity and dedication to quality, as well as its evolution with history. World War II had a drastic impact on supplies and production of consumer goods, so Levi Strauss & Co. had to abide by a new set of rules. To conserve raw materials for the war effort, the United States Government ordered clothing manufacturers to remove certain amounts of metal, fabric and thread from their garments. Since availability and delivery of supplies was hit-or-miss, Levi Strauss & Co. often had to use whatever was on hand. Off came the cinch, its two rivets, and the watch pocket rivets—this cut down on both fabric and metal. During the war years, buttons also became standard issue. Some featured a laurel leaf design, and others were branded. Jeans were often produced with a laurel leaf waistband button, and plain fly buttons. One rationing rule in particular was a little harder to bear: the order to remove the classic Levi's® Arcuate stitch design from the back pockets, as it was considered decorative and didn't have a function. However, Levi Strauss & Co. believed it did: the Arcuate was a prime identifier of the classic 501®. Rather than lose this important design, Levi Strauss & Co. worked out a system to print it on every pair of 501® Jeans. The paint eventually washed off, but having that double-arch design visible when buying the jeans was the important thing. This garment is made with selvedge denim from Cone Mills— a Levi's® partner for over 100 years. Levi's 1944 501 Vintage Jeans - Men's 30x34 - Rigid. Levi's Official Site."

Levi's 1955 501 Vintage Jeans

"The Levi's® Vintage Clothing 1955 501® Jean represents classic 1950's biker style. This jean had an ""anti-fit"" in the seat, slightly fuller cut around the leg, and boxier silhouette. It was also the first to bear our leather-like, paper Two-Horse Pull patch. Additionally, the updated red Tab is double-sided — another example of our meticulous attention to detail. This version of the 501® still retains some classic features of its 1947 predecessor: belt loops as the only method of waist adjustment, hidden copper rivets on the back pockets, and a zinc button fly. It is made with selvedge denim from Cone Mills of North Carolina, a Levi's® brand partner for over 100 years. Levi's 1955 501 Vintage Jeans - Men's 38x34 - Rigid. Levi's Official Site."

Levi's Vintage Men's 1947 501 Jeans Dark Trails

Combining the classic features of the original 501® jean with updated details, the Levi’s 1947 501® was born. After the restriction of materials and production during World War II were lifted, a remodelled version of the straight fit jeans was created. This piece reproduces all of those new elements: a slimmer fit, rivets on the watch pocket and the famous dual-arched arcuate stitching on the back pockets using double-needle technology. Crafted from non-stretch denim, the jeans use the same selvedge denim from Cone Mills in North Carolina, which has been a Levi’s partner for over 100 years. A straight leg and the signature button fly remain as does the classic five pocket design. Branded details include: a big ‘E’ red tab denoting pre-1971 manufacture and the iconic Two Horse logo on the rear leather patch, traditionally used to demonstrate the strength of the original jean. 100% Cotton. 14oz Selvedge Denim.
