Blade + Blue Vintage Gold Tone Waltham Day/Date Watch
Blade + Blue Vintage Gold Tone Waltham Day/Date Watch

I have always had a thing for old watches. There is something about the character of an old watch that just defines "Old School Cool" for me. I&|39;ve just thought it was so much cooler to discover a beautiful old watch than to just walk into a store and buy a new one. There is a strength in knowing how old they are and seeing them faithfully keep perfect time. There is a magic in thinking of the life that this watch had before it came into your hands. And there is a beauty in knowing that some things just never go out of style. When I was growing up, my dad never splurged on anything. His focus was on taking care of us kids. But the one thing that he loved was a great watch. I think I inherited that from him. As Blade + Blue is really a &|39;Thank - You&|39; letter to my father for all that he taught us about being men, I couldn&|39;t be more excited and proud than to share this collection of beautiful found watches with you. I&|39;ve always got my eyes peeled for old Walthams, to me they are the ultimate classic watch. This is a handsome style in a gold tone case with a steel back. The back of the case is marked with the letters XD006. The case measures about 1.25" wide with a clean crystal and day/date keeper. This is a battery operated model. Only 1 available

Holy Toledo, this one is really special to me. You may have seen a small capsule called &|39;Black & Blue&|39; by Blade+Blue which preceded the new Spring collection. Well, this is the item that sparked that entire idea. This is a vintage Swiss Army Diver&|39;s watch with an incredible blue glass face. If you peer behind that blue glass, you can actually see the insides of the watch hard at work. There is also a very unique date keeper which rotates each day until the correct date appears in the contrasting white window. Even small details like the yellow second hand is totally cool! This is a pretty hefty piece which measures about 1.5" across. In the process of saving this watch, I gave him a fresh new black leather band. This watch is battery operated. Only 1 available

I&|39;ve just thought it was so much cooler to discover a beautiful old watch than to just walk into a store and buy a new one. Oh boy, this one kills me. This is a vintage 1972 Timex with a ridiculously good-looking multicolored face. It is painted steely blue & white, but the yellow hands & time markers and the orange second hand really add character to this piece. Even the font used for the time markers is worth a look. I have to mention that this watch runs on automatic movement. This means that it doesn&|39;t run on a battery or even from daily winding. This watch runs on kinetic energy that builds up when being moved. For example, the motion of your arm when you are wearing it helps build up it&|39;s energy supply. It is absolutely old school. I recommend that you familiarize yourself with automatic movements if you are interested in purchasing this watch. What you need to really know is that if the watch remains unused for a while, it needs to build up energy in it&|39;s system in order to properly function. So you may need to wear the watch for about an hour for it to gather the fuel it needs to run. I&|39;ve seen companies making new watches with automatic movement and I&|39;ve also witnessed some frustrated youngsters who aren&|39;t familiar with this type of functionality. I placed a new textured black leather band on him, I think the white stitching catches the white in the face just perfectly. Only 1 available

My eyes popped out of my head when I saw this stunner in antique shop near San Luis Obisbo, California. But guess what, I actually couldn&|39;t afford it. So I did something I never do, I remained patient. About 3 weeks later, I had to hit L.A. for a fabric show so naturally I made a detour to that shop where my favorite watch was. He was still there. And again I did something I never do, I haggled. I think I begged a little too (!), but there was a big smile on my face when I resumed the drive to L.A. This is an old Clinton diver&|39;s style watch with a magnificent royal blue dial. All of it&|39;s details complement that face; the white time keepers, the red date numerals & second hand and that sweet striped military band. There is also a painted, rotating bezel that lists the names of international cities at the numeral markers. I had the crystal polished up to really pop that handsome face. The case measures roughly 1.5" across and has pretty hefty weight to him. Daily winding required. Only 1 available

I found an army green nylon band with great khaki stitching and metal grommets that suit it perfectly. The stainless steel case measures 1.5" across and is marked with Hamilton Watch Co., Lancaster PA on the back. I believe this comes from their Field Watch Collection. This watch has been serviced and keeps great time and date. Daily winding required. Only 1 available

Blade + Blue Vintage Felco 1940&|39;s Swiss Made Watch
Blade + Blue Vintage Felco 1940&|39;s Swiss Made Watch

Oh Boy, Oh Boy - that expression you will find love when you are least expecting it made sense when I found this beautiful watch. Last year, I went pretty out of my way to stop at an estate sale on the drive back from southern California. I was pretty disappointed that there was lots of things for little old ladies and not a strong young man like me (ha!). I was just about to say "thank you & goodbye" when I saw the beautiful blue band of this watch peeking out from a bookcase shelf. I didn&|39;t know anything about the brand, I just fell in love with the handsome watch and the story behind it. The family explained that the owner had bought this watch for her husband about 70 years ago and still kept it to remember him by. I fell in love with this watch and with the couple whom I saw pictured throughout this home. I needed to find this watch a new lease on life. This was produced by the Felco company in the late 1940&|39;s. Felco was a Swiss company who specialized in medium-end watches. The face has a &|39;champagne&|39; colored hue with raised numerals that appear to have a copper colored patina. All housed in a stainless steel case which measures 1.5" across including the dial. The back is marked 33909. The band is a stunning shade of blue with the animal embossed texture you see in the pictures. I cannot determine if it is the original band. This is a wind up model and should be wound every day. I have been testing it and runs very well. It just needs a few seconds to &|39;warm up&|39; after it has stopped - in other words, be patient he is 70 years old! Only 1 available

Oh boy, what a spectacular find - a Vintage Hamilton Field Watch in gorgeous condition. These are highly sought after and you guys always seem to grab them before I have the chance to decide to keep them for myself! This is the classic field watch dial: black with white time numerals, military hour markings, khaki second hand & khaki markers on each hour. The watch has a characteristically small case, measuring just under 1.5" across including the crown. Now, the back has several markings: Watch Wrist General Purpose/MIL-W-463748/HAMILTON/1979/DISPOSE RAD WASTE/US There are also a series of numbers which I just cannot make out (forgive me, my eyesight just isn&|39;t what it used to be!). I placed a navy blue canvas band on him to make him even just a little bit cooler. This watch has been serviced and keeps great time and date. This watch requires daily winding. Only 1 available

Clintons are some of my favorite old watches and this guy is no exception. I especially like how bold & blue his face is. The white numerals and red accents on the second hand & calendar work perfectly against that bright shade of blue. There is also a pretty cool rotating bezel listing international cities such as New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Paris, Tel Aviv, Tokyo, Sydney and get this.. Denver! Why Denver? These vintage finds always get me thinking! The crystal is in very good condition, just a little bit of aging. The case is slightly narrower than some of the chunkier pieces I have found this time around; it measures 1.5" across including the crown. I found a black leather band with blue stitching that matches the cool face perfectly. This watch has been serviced and keeps great time and date. This watch requires daily winding. Only 1 available

I&|39;ve been crushing hard on anything olive green lately, so I jumped at this watch when I first spotted it. This watch was made by the Webster company and likely dates back to the 1970&|39;s. His handsome black face features bold cream colored numerals with pale green & orange accents on the hands and calendar. The crystal is very clean and shows off the sweet combo very well. The stainless steel case measures roughly 1.75" wide from one side to the edge of the crown. It is a pretty thick case too, about .25" thick. The backside of the case is marked with a 200m water resistant notation. (Of course, I cannot guarantee this functionality). I placed a great olive green canvas military band on this watch for a pretty great effect. This watch has been serviced and keeps great time and date. This watch requires daily winding.
