Alessi DC03/77 LG - Tonale Mini-Plate
This project is a revival and extension of a previous work from 1996, produced by the Belgian editors Slegten & Toegemann, inspired by vernacular ceramics from Korea, Japan and China, and conceived as an exercise in refining familiar functional household articles. The revised project continues in this vein, paying further homage to the Italian painter Giorgio Morandi in the study of colors, in addition to include materials metal, glass and wood, and in variety of forms intended almost to appear as a random, typologically ambiguous collection of objects. The name "Tonale" was given to Morandi's approach to color composition as the project seeks to apply this idea to the design exercise. While the end product maintains its expressive purity, it also honors the manufacturer's requirement for a durable, practical and versatile table set comprising a variety of items including tray, carafe, plates and bowls in different sizes, beakers and mini-cup. Material: Stoneware. Dimensions: 4 1/2" Diameter
