Refreshing. Satisfying. Let out a long piquant - Aaahhhhhh. Demeter's Pink Lemonade is just lemons, water, sugar and grenadine (pomegranate syrup). That's it. And that's really all you need. Homemade from a stand? From a mix? At family reunion perhaps? Refill anyone?
Condensed milk is pasteurized during the evaporation procedure, with the added sugar making any further sterilization unnecessary, since the sugar inhibits the growth of microorganisms. It is also this combination, of milk and sweet sugar, that gives Demeter's Condensed Milk its distinctive odor. You may have never partaken of evaporated or condensed milk, at least not knowingly. But chances are your grandmother or great-grandmother made you comfort food using one or the other.
The smell of fresh cut hay on a hot summer day. Does it take you back there, too? By Groucho Marx alimony is like buying hay for dead horse
This product is made of high quality material. It is recommended for romantic wear. This Product Is Manufactured In USA.
Demeter's earthworm is a deeper, darker, richer version of dirt, reflecting not the worm itself, but where it lives, deep in moist soil, on the floor of a forest covered with decomposing leaves.
Is there anything as strangely addictive as the scent of leather? The link between perfume and leather goes back hundreds of years and is even said by some to have marked the beginning of modern perfumery as we know it, as leather tanneries started to use perfume materials to mask the unpleasant scent of leather goods that had been produced using traditional tanning processes. 'Bottling’ the scent of leather does not involve using anything from leather or animals. Rather, our perfumers have re-created the distinguished and luxurious odor of leather by blending natural and synthetic materials in the laboratory – so like all of our fragrances, this product is 100% vegetarian
Our most emblematic fragrance, Demeter's dirt was made to smell exactly like the dirt from the fields around the Pennsylvania family farm belonging to our founding perfumer. We think of this as April 10th when the plowing begins in the northeast U.S. - The beautiful scent of turned earth with a touch of last season's corn stalks. Place is the essence of Demeter's dirt fragrance. People will occasionally say 'this doesn't smell like dirt to me'. Well, where did they grow up? Arizona? Georgia? The south of France? Then, our dirt isn't going to smell like their dirt.
A light, crisp fragrance that is right just about any time and anywhere. Our gin & tonic is essential refreshment from heat, tropical or otherwise - strong, sweet with a sweet-deep juniper finish and citrus twist.
Demeter's frankincense is a full, rich, woody, spicy expression of a classic fragrance note. So classic, that the bible mentions it as one of the three types of gifts the wise men gave to the baby Jesus. Frankincense is tapped from the scraggly but hardy boswellia sacra trees by slashing the bark, which is called striping, and allowing the exuded resin to bleed out and harden. There are several species and varieties of frankincense trees, each producing a slightly different type of resin. Differences in soil and climate create even more diversity of the resin, even within the same species.
Demeter's graham cracker is based upon the American classic. A tempting combination of honey, molasses, cinnamon and vanilla, and a staple ingredient in Demeter's virtual cookie jar set.
This is the scent of honeysuckle in June on a warm, sunny day, experienced while driving down a country road about 45 mph with the windows down. It gets no better than this. Ever.
Funeral home is a blend of classic white flowers including lilies, carnations, gladiolus, chrysanthemums with stems and leaves, with a hint of mahogany and oriental carpet. This scent actually started out to be flower show. However, our founding perfumer personally did not like most white flowers so this was a tough fragrance for him to develop. When our founder, Christopher gable smelled this one he exclaimed: 'It smells like my grandfather's funeral... Call it funeral home '. So we did.
Simple. Leaves, blooms, and the wonderful smell of humidity. Yes, humidity has a smell component - think about it. We wanted to combine those three odors in one bottle, and we did it tell us what you think.
Our whole idea is to smell the trees for the forest. They each smell different and each smells very good. Demeter’s version of Fraser fir is the living tree in the forest, all green, cool and crisp, like walking through a lot of freshly cut Christmas trees. A number of stands occur in the great smoky mountains national park. Its highest native habitat is mt. Mitchell, north Carolina (6.684 feet) and is the highest U.S. Point east of the Mississippi river.
Dominant and delicious chocolate fudge, combines with whipped cream and vanilla, topped with a cherry, all blended subtly. Enjoy the richness, and the lack of calories.
A beautiful bright, tart blend of citrus with soothing base notes of black tea. Fortnam and mason in London, and of course Paris' fachoun, sell wonderful grapefruit tea blends. A friend brought a package back to us and inspiration struck.
Demeter's dust scent is based upon the typical fine bits of fabric or dirt from around the house that gives off that familiar and comfortable odor. Our universe is a very dusty place. Dust usually shows its presence by blocking out light emitted from stars or nebula behind it, sometimes creating the illusion of a horse's head or a sombrero hat. But nobody really knows what a typical interstellar dust grain looks like. By studying how dust absorbs, emits, and reflects light, astronomers do know that interstellar dust is much different than the cell and lint based dust, found around a typical house.
Cultivated on the hamakua coast on big island of Hawaii this unique orchid grows in the wealthiest soil on earth. Hawaiian heat, sweet rains and mild breezes transform Hawaiian vanilla blossoms into the richest most aromatic vanilla beans in the world. Demeter's Hawaiian vanilla is rich in the aromatic scent of the vanilla bean. Warm and wonderful...Without it, life would just be "plain vanilla".
Demeter's ginger captures the delicate, sparkling and slightly spicy/sweet aroma of the fresh cut herb.
A beautiful, slightly lemony and bright green scent Demeter's geranium will become a favorite. This is the scent of the leaves of the geranium bourbon, a sometimes hard-to-get oil that comes mostly from reunion island via Cairo.
Baby Powder for Women Pick-me Up Cologne Spray 4.0 Oz / 120 Ml by Demeter. The Johnson & Johnson Company was a leader in antiseptic medicinal plasters in the 1880's. In the 1890's, the Company started shipping Italian talc with their plasters, to reduce irritation. Soon customers were asking for more talc, and shortly thereafter, that scented talc was being sold as baby powder, creating the link in our minds between the scent of baby powder and fresh cleanliness. It is that fresh scent that is the inspiration for Demeter's Baby Powder.
The big island of Hawaii is home to volcanoes national park established in 1916. The park displays the results of 70 million years of volcanism, migration, and evolution -- processes that thrust a bare land from the sea and clothed it with complex and unique ecosystems and a distinct human culture. The park encompasses diverse environments that range from sea level to the summit of the earth's most massive volcano, Mauna loa.
This is not exactly your father's humidor. It is the scent of a professional humidor you would walk into in a tobacco shop. Demeter's humidor scent is a balanced and irresistible combination of the tobacco, spices and ozone of a large, retail humidor. Here's why: Our Christopher gable used to give his dad cigars every Christmas. It became sort of a family joke because Christopher and his dad knew his mother couldn't abide the odor of them. Christopher came to think that really she was right, but he loved the scent of the cigars before they're smoked, right in the humidor where they're kept. On a trip to Montreal a few years ago, in the hotel, where he was staying there was a walk-in humidor in the gift shop. He asked the clerk if he could smell the inside of the humidor. He was greeted by a mixture of alarm and confusion but allowed to proceed. Inside the small glass room was the mixtures of rich tobaccos he had expected, but also the ozone smell of cold in the air, not exactly refrigerant, but simply that manufactured "cold" scent. Lovely together. We worked on it till we got both those elements in proper balance for this scent.
Demeter fragrance library's lotus flower is a unique study of contrasts: An exotic floral that is soft and powdery and in no way overwhelming. Light green notes, and a gentle, watery undercurrent soften it further. A very peaceful scent that still makes a statement. Lotus flowers have been used throughout history in southeast Asia. They are a regular feature of Buddhist and Hindu art, architecture and literature, where they are symbolically important, coming to represent immortality and resurrection because people observed that they would grow from the bottom of dried up pools after the monsoon rains.
Lemon meringue by Demeter is a bright and bold full-bodied lemon scent without any of the bitterness or shrillness that lemon can have. It has creamy vanilla undertones without becoming sugary or sweet. The fresh lemon cream is the star of this beautifully balanced fragrance. The chemistry of meringue is quite fascinating. When egg whites are beaten, some of the hydrogen bonds in the proteins breakdown, causing the proteins to "denature", or unfold and change shape. This change in structure leads to the stiff consistency required for meringues. The addition of cream of tartar causes the proteins to change even more, helping to create the desired firm peaks.
Just as you imagine. Ripe, juicy, mouthwatering and oh so refreshing. Need we say more. Butter blush. Invigorating, to say the least.
Lullaby and goodnight. This scent says chill out. Demeter's lavender is powdery, soft and enveloping. Like most Demeter florals, it is inspired by the living plant, and is not some reductive, perfumed version of lavender. Lavender is a shrubby plant indigenous to the mountainous regions of the countries bordering the western half of the Mediterranean, and cultivated extensively for its aromatic flowers in various parts of France, in Italy and in England and even as far north as Norway. It is also now being grown as a perfume plant in Australia. The fragrant oil to which the odor of lavender flowers is due is widely used in perfumery, and to a lesser extent in medicine. The fine aromatic smell is found in all parts of the shrub, but the essential oil is only produced from the flowers and flower-stalks.
We actually have good memories of church. The porcelain font, ozone scented water, oak scented pew - all mingled. Lovely, we think. To capture this scent, imagine an old European church, in a small town off the beaten track. This is the scent of the blessed water you might find there in an old stone container. When we came out with our holy water scent, New York magazine wrote that Madonna had been approached to do a scent with this name. It was, apparently, even too sacrilegious even for her. The use of holy water goes back to the earliest days of the Christian era. It is known that some of the faithful believed that holy water possessed curative properties for certain diseases, and that this was true in a special manner of baptismal water. However, baptismal water was not the only holy water. Some was permanently retained at the entrance to Christian churches where a clerk sprinkled the faithful as they came in.
Demeter’s grape leaf is rich, full and fresh, inspired by a drive through the napa valley in California. When we got onto the road, just above napa, right about at Yountville, we rolled down the car windows. In flooded that wonderful odor of grape leaves baking in the sun. It was unlike anything we had ever smelled. We got down into the vines and smelled. It smelled different at different times of day, and, in fact --- and the vinters confirmed this --- the smell is different on different sides of the road where the soil changes.
Ivy is fresh and green, but darker, deeper and richer than most green fragrances. Ivy, while it originated in Europe, is also common I America and Asia. It is considered a symbol of woman. If you put ivy together with holly, the symbol of man at Christmas, it was reputed to bring peace between husband and wife for the following year. What more could one ask for from a plant?
Irish cream is a sumptuous and creamy blend of Irish whisky, fresh cream, cocoa, vanilla, caramel and sugar. An intoxicating smooth, mellow mix. All the aroma, no hangover.
“...Invite a person to a log cabin in the woods for a weekend. The true personality emerges every time.” - Anne LA bastille, woods woman i: Living alone in the Adirondack wilderness Demeter's log cabin is all about the wood, Texas cedar for a touch of smokiness, Virginia cedar for sweetness, oak moss to smooth rough edges and add just a touch of green: All melded together over time and weathered. Step into another time and place without breaking the bank.
Playing in it. Lying on it. Even mowing it. Grass smells wonderful. In Demeter's grass pick-me-up cologne, we have captured the freshness and sweetness of a freshly mowed lawn. One of our three original fragrance, along with dirt and tomato.
The great barrier reef is actually a complex of coral reefs, shoals and islets off the northeastern coast of Australia. Many are dry, and others barely awash in water. Some of the islands are covered in coral sand. It is that unique aspect, the combination of the warm pacific ocean and the powdery, sweet-scented coral that we made the focus of this fragrance – an unforgettable scent, inspired by an unforgettable locale. The destination collection labeling is only available in 1 oz. and 4 oz. cologne sprays. Additional products available in classic labeling.
This is a very pretty floral with a lovely warm base of tea notes. Have you ever wondered what the pharaohs of the ancient Nile valley drank to refresh themselves in the desert heat? Hibiscus tea. And throughout history until the present, hibiscus tea has been a preferred beverage in many cultures, in China, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Europe. In fact, all over the world people drink hibiscus tea for health (said to lower blood pressure), for cooling, for a relaxing refreshment (no caffeine), for ceremonies (every wedding and celebration in Sudan and Egypt is "toasted" with glasses of hibiscus tea), and for plain, old enjoyment.
Bright and green originally limes come from Malaysia, and through Persian trading, were brought to the Mediterranean. Mexico now grows the most limes worldwide. Our lime comes from sun-drenched Mexico, pure green and citrus, as refreshing as a spring day. When they're in a gin & tonic though, who really cares where they come from?
