Nike Classic Shoes

Nike is an American athletic brand that was founded in 1964 as Blue Ribbon Sports and in 1971 became Nike, Inc., named after the Greek goddess of victory. Nike is famous for its recognizable logo and slogan, "Just Do It," which first appeared in 1988. Bill Bowerman, a track-and-field coach at the University of Oregon, joined forces with runner Phil Knight with $1,200 in the bank to create designs that helped athletes. Nike began by producing running shoes, but throughout the '80s and '90s, the company expanded to provide shoes for other sports for U.S. consumers as well as other regions throughout the world. Today Nike makes sports equipment that includes shoes, apparel, and gear for a wide range of sports. A Portland State University student, Carolyn Davidson, designed the classic Nike "swoosh" for only $35. The globally recognized logo has become a status symbol in both street fashion and athletic gear.

Throughout its history, Nike has had several famous athletes endorse their products. Michael Jordan of the Chicago Bulls still holds the record for the largest endorsement deal and his famous Air Jordans remain fan favorites each year. Other famous basketball players who have had endorsement deals with Nike include LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, and Kevin Durant. Nike has also had endorsement deals with several famous golfers such as Tiger Woods and Michele Wie. Tennis players such as Maria Sharapova and Roger Federer have also had endorsement deals with Nike.

The original classic Nike running shoes, Nike Waffle Trainers, were patented in 1974 and named because their soles were made with a waffle iron. Fans of Nike products will find new styles that are functional in a given sport and fun styles for street wear. Those who like a more retro look will love a pair of classic Nike sneakers in every color. Regardless of which style of Nikes one chooses, they will find the classic Nike "swoosh logo" on all of their products.
