Blue Nude (Memory of Biskra), 1907 Framed Painting: *Hand-painted oil painting reproduction on canvas *Ready to hang *Framed and fully assembled in the USA Henri Matisse is considered one of the most revolutionary artists of the modern art movements. He was the leader of the Fauvist movement, famous for his use of color. Fauvism is known for it's use of bold colors that are not meant to reflect reality. Rather the colors simply existed as an individual element on the page, often representing the mood or emotion of the artist. And although the colors are individual, they each play a specific role and work together to create a beautifully balanced composition. Blue Nude (Memory of Biskra) was created in 1907 after a sculpture Matisse had been working on shattered. The painting received quite a bit of backlash from it's audience, and was burned in effigy in 1913. With its gentle blues and greens, this painting would look beautiful in the bedroom!
