D+Daniel Wijaya was born in Jakarta on November 27, 1971 and grew up in the city but he moved to Galatiga in Central Java to study for a degree in marketing. He then had an opportunity to go to Honolulu, where he received his master's degree. Wijaya returned to Indonesia but, due to the financial crisis that hit Asia in 1998, he lost his job. From the time he was very young his hobby was photography and art. When he found himself without a job, Wijaya decided to work on his own in a field related to his passion for art. 'In 1999, I decided to move to Bali,' he says. 'On this beautiful island I get inspiration from the global community that lives here. I enjoy my work, my living, and this island keeps me creative,' Wijaya says. 'My challenge has been to create simple, modern and functional art pieces for the home that still strongly relate to ethnic Asia.
