American artist Laurie Simmons is considered part of the Pictures Generation, who use recognizable imagery to explore our perceptions of the world, along with Cindy Sherman, Barbara Kruger and other selected artists. In Holiday Petit-Fours, Simmons uses a recurring motif, doll's legs, to comment on traditional gender roles.
