Product Description The unique nature of the seahorse means that is has a fairly rich symbolic history across a variety of cultures, from Ancient Greece to China. Believed to be a symbol of strength and power, but also of patience and contentment, the seahorse has long been considered a good luck talisman for sailors. Our Caspian Seahorse Pendant is named after the Caspian Sea and recalls fond memories of The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis, which were favourite childhood stories for the Wild & Fine team. The Wild and Fine range of seahorses is created using antique specimens from a private natural history collection, which were returned in pristine condition once Jess had finished with them. Any gemstones used have been ethically sourced. Peridot - Also known as Olivine, Peridot is the birthstone for August and the national stone of Egypt. It is one of only two gemstones - diamond is the other - that is formed, not in the Earth’s crust, but deeper down in the molten rock of the Upper Mantle and it is brought to the surface by the earthquakes and volcanoes. Peridot is only ever green in color, so it is ironic that it is thought to help dispel jealousy and resentment! Perhaps because of the dramatic way in which it makes its way to the Earth’s surface, Peridot is thought to be beneficial for those wishing to break away from dependencies or destructive patterns of behaviour The Caspian Seahorse Pendant is beautifully presented on an 18" spiga chain in Plastic Free Wild & Fine branded packaging Care & Info Clean gently with a polishing cloth or in warm soapy water. The first story belongs to Jess, silversmith, jeweller and creator of the Wild and Fine world. Working from her studio in the countryside she combines traditional techniques with newer ones to hand-make each charm in the range. She delights in travel and unexpected adventures and the Wild and Fine collection is - and will continue to be – inspired by her experiences. The next stories belong to the pieces themselves. Each one has its own unique tale to tell, from the tightly curled Pembrokeshire ammonite to the delicate mussel shell that was foraged from a Scottish beach. Exploring the collection should feel like leafing through a jeweller’s travel journal or discovering remarkable treasures in a hidden museum in a narrow city side street. From here the stories belong to you. Whether you pick a tiny shell to commemorate a seaside engagement or a miniature lotus seedpod to remind you of a life-changing trip to Asia, you can build your own individual narrative with Wild and Fine’s unique, handcrafted designs.
